The Orchestra was founded in 1983 by local amateur musicians to explore the repertoire for Chamber orchestra, which is an orchestra comprising strings, double woodwind, horns, trumpets and timpani. You can read a little more about the setting up of the orchestra here.
Conductors
We have had three main conductors since the orchestra was founded
Soloists
We have been very lucky to work with some excellent performers including
Composers
We have commissioned pieces from local composers in recent years, celebrating the life of Letchworth. They include
Ilario Ferrari's 'Awakening (A journey through the gardens of Letchworth)' and
Alison Wrenn's 'A Greener To-Morrow'.
